Organizing Service FAQs
I’m interested in an organizing session! What’s the next step?
Email kelterlifestyle@gmail.com to schedule a free 30-minute phone call or video consultation. The consultation will include time to discuss your goals for your first session and what to expect during the organizing session.
Why would these services be helpful for me?
Many clients have found the personal guide of the service provider to help with accomplishing a lot in a short amount of time. The decluttering and organizing service is catered to assist the client and their specific needs. This service carves out a certain amount of time in a client’s schedule for what tends to be a challenging task that involves processing emotions and memories while letting go of sentimental items.
I’m not sure if I’m ready for a decluttering session. How do I know if I’m ready?
Kimberly works with clients who are mentally ready to take the plunge into decluttering their items. If you aren’t sure if you are ready to have a session, it is recommended to schedule a free consultation to discuss your needs and level of readiness. It’s common for clients to have nerves, stress, and/or overwhelming feelings before a session, especially the first one. The consultation may determine whether it is jitters from stirring up old memories or simply resistance to the process at the current time.
Will my living or working space be cleaned?
The primary role of a decluttering session is to remove unwanted items and reorganize the space to meet the needs of the user(s), so there may be light wiping of furniture (ie, shelving, containers) before your items are replaced and organized. Cleaning services are not provided during decluttering sessions.
Where do you offer services?
Decluttering and organizing services are offered to clients within the city and region of Greater Harrisburg and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Services for other locations are offered on a case-by-case basis.
Do you work with hoarders?
Most people tend to collect items in their living and working spaces over periods of time. If you are looking for necessary behavioral support in addition to the physical service and general emotional support found in these sessions, these sessions may not fit your needs.
Why do I need a consultation before my first session?
A phone call or video consultation provides the service provider the opportunity to prepare for the needs of the space and the client prior to arrival. Photos and videos of the space are helpful for the initial consultation. Physical consultation visits are also beneficial.
Do I need to be present during each session?
For major decluttering, it is beneficial for the client to be present in the home or work space at the time of the session. As the items belong to the client and not the service provider, the client makes the final decision for where an item goes (keep, donate, sell, trash). The service provider can provide sessions with minimal inclusion of the client’s help after several sessions have been made to the same area or room being decluttered. However, it is strongly recommended that the client be available during the sessions in case any questions or additional decisions need to be made.
Why don’t we declutter my significant other’s/roommate’s/child’s items without them?
The focus of each session is on the client’s personal items. If there are other people within the same living or working space who have items within the room that are being decluttered, these items are not addressed without the permission of the other person to respect their needs and current journey in life. It is recommended to discuss the goals of any decluttering sessions with others within your living space before proceeding to change any joint environment of your home or work.
Are you affiliated with any other businesses?
No, this business is not affiliated with any decluttering or organizing businesses. Any partnerships made with other businesses or organizations do not represent or express the views of this entity.
